Feminist Discount

Feminist Discount is a visual art project satirizing consumer culture by manipulating advertising images to express feminist, environmental, and racial justice issues.  Feminist Discount uses analogue technology (ie scissors and glue) as well as digital editing to create angry, playful, or uplifting images from Discount Dance catalogues, environmental calendars, Adbusters magazines and more.  Rather than toss or recycle the many many many catalogues received as society's barrage of ads infiltrates even our homes, these images are repurposed to call that same advertising culture into question while commenting on feminism, capitalism, climate change, police violence, and more.

Laissez Fair

Laissez Fair is a 28-page satirical magazine made for the smash hit gallery show, Val-U-Mart that opened in Oakland, CA in Jan 2020.  This magazine is filled with collaged fake ads reminding us how capitalism preys on our delicate psyches, and imparts seriously messed up messages about what's valuable in life.

This project includes collages from Feminist Discount as well as advertisements for fake products from other collaborators in featured in the show.
